Tata-Fiat alliance

Tata Motors and Fiat have signed an agreement to cooperate on dealer network sharing which encompasses the sale of Fiat branded cars through Tata Motors outlets throughout India. Tata Motors will manage the marketing and distribution of the Fiat cars in India.

Following this agreement, the Palio 1.2 Petrol EL PS & ELX , Palio 1.6 Sport & Adventure 1.6 Sport will now be available at 44 Tata-Fiat showrooms in 11 cities across the country. The showrooms are spread across Mumbai, Pune & Ahmedabad in the West; NCR, Chandigarh & Ludhiana in the North; Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad & Cochin in the South and Kolkata in the East.

The Tata - Fiat Dealers will undertake sales, service & spare Parts of all Fiat Products ie. Palio, Petra, Adventure & Uno.

INDICA

The Tata Indica is a small hatchback automobile manufactured by Tata Motors of India. The model is also exported to Britain and Europe, as well as retailing in South Africa as from late 2004. In the UK it was imported by MG Rover and was called the CityRover. It is the first car manufactured by Tata Motors.

INDIGO

The Tata Indigo is a sedan manufactured by Tata Motors of India. It is based on Tata Indica model of the company. An estate version of the Indigo, the Tata Indigo Marina, was launched in 2004.

In 2005, Tata Motors released the Indigo SX, an upmarket version with a leather-trimmed steering wheel and leather seats, among other features. It starts at around Rs. 6,00,000.

All versions of the Indigo are powered by either a petrol or a diesel engine. The petrol unit is a 1.4-liter unit that produces 85 bhp, and the 1.4-liter Indirect Injection Turbocharged intercooled diesel engine produces 70 bhp.

Neither of the engines are very refined, and are quite noisy. The diesel engine is very economical, and the petrol unit, though quick, isn't very economical.

The Indigo range starts from around 4 lakh Indian rupees (Rs. 4,00,000) or USD 9000 and the range is topped by the SX, which is priced at RS. 6,00,000 or USD 13000.

SAFARI

Tata Safari is an SUV produced by Tata Motors of India. It is the first SUV developed entirely in India. The second one being the Scorpio by Mahindra of India. It was released in 1998 with a 1.9 litre Turbo Diesel engine. A 2 litre Petrol engine was added in 2005. The Tata Safari was extensively modified in August 2005, which included the addition of a new 3-litre DICOR engine along with modified interiors and exteriors. This 3 litre engine is the first diesel engine from Tata Motors with CRDi technology.

SUMO

Tata Sumo is a multi-utility vehicle released by Tata Motors in 1994. It quickly made a name for itself in a market which had never seen anything modern than the Mahindra vehicles. The Sumo was facelifted extensively in 2004 and renamed as the Sumo Victa in face of competition from relatively modern competitors.
